Global Facility Solutions Named Executive Member of ENERGY STAR Certification Nation

Columbia, MD – Global Facility Solutions (GFS) is proud to announce that it has been named an Executive Member of ENERGY STAR Certification Nation. This recognition is a part of the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) celebration for the 30th Anniversary of ENERGY STAR. This distinction bestowed by the Certification Nation program recognizes GFS for its role in helping to obtain ENERGY STAR certification for 57 buildings in 2022. The Executive Member status of Certification Nation places GFS in the second highest program tier of all participating organizations across the country.

As an ENERGY STAR partner, Global Facility Solutions helps building owners to obtain ENERGY STAR certification, allowing partnering buildings to “save energy, save money, and help protect the environment by generating fewer greenhouse gas emissions than typical buildings.” From local clients in the Mid-Atlantic region to Fortune 500 commercial building owners nationwide, GFS assists property owners in identifying and adopting Energy Conservation Measures to reduce energy consumption and implement sustainable practices.

“Being named an Executive Member of ENERGY STAR Certification Nation is a testament to our commitment to energy efficiency and sustainability,” said Robert Calloway, P.E., President and CEO of Global Facility Solutions. “We are proud to be a part of this celebration for ENERGY STAR’s 30th Anniversary, and we look forward to continuing to provide our customers with the highest level of service and expertise.”

To earn the ENERGY STAR, a commercial building or industrial plant must be independently verified to operate more efficiently than 75% of similar properties nationwide. ENERGY STAR certified buildings use an average of 35 percent less energy and are responsible for 35 percent less carbon dioxide emissions than typical buildings. Commercial buildings and industrial plants are responsible for nearly half of the nation’s energy use and nearly half of its greenhouse gas emissions.

Launched in 1992, ENERGY STAR is a voluntary EPA program that delivers environmental benefits and financial value through superior energy efficiency. Today, thousands of organizations use ENERGY STAR tools and resources to help them assess their energy performance, improve their efficiency, and earn recognition. In 2019, the ENERGY STAR program for commercial buildings helped businesses and organizations save 230 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity, avoid $14 billion in energy costs, and achieve 170 million metric tons of greenhouse gas reductions.
